How To Love Life During The Holidays
The holiday season is really the most wonderful time of the year. People seem to be nicer; the snow makes everything look magical, we get to eat good food and we get to be with the ones we love the most. I love Christmas and do truly believe that it is the most wonderful time of the year but sometimes the holiday season can be busy, stressful and have some tension. If you find that every year you get a little stressed, no that you aren’t alone. Use these tips to help you love life during the holidays.
Self-care
I know that the holidays are a busy time and it is hard to take time to take care of yourself, but if you are not feeling 100% during the holidays the best thing to do is to make time to take care of yourself. Find ways that you can love yourself during the holidays. Take a bath, make time to read, journal or exercise. A great way to make time to have a little self-care is to use a morning or evening routine throughout the holidays.
Do what makes you happy
The easiest way to start loving life more during the holidays is to make sure that you are doing things that make you happy. If you are doing things that aren’t making you happy during the holidays, change things up and start hanging with people, and do activities that make you happy. Do you love watching the snowfall and drinking hot cocoa? Do it. Do you love ice skating? Do it. Do you love watching cheesy hallmark movies and eat popcorn? DO IT. Make time to do the things that make you love the holidays.
Give more
Sometimes the only thing you need to do during the holidays that can make you feel better is to give to those in need. Maybe it is time to make a new tradition that allows you to spend some time helping others. You could buy gifts for families in need, make a meal for a friend, donate to a charity that you are passionate about, or walk around the streets spreading Christmas cheer. Whatever you do, do it with a grateful heart.
Hygge
Hygge is a Danish practice that Danish folks use to make them feel good. The word hygge is the word that describes the mood that is associated with coziness and being comfortable which makes us feel well and content. If you are having a moment during the holidays where you feel like you are not loving life, take a time out and enjoy some hygge. Light some candles, put on warm sweaters, eat delish pastries, cuddle with your loved ones and embrace a cozier lifestyle.
