Interior Design Inspired By Mexico

There is nothing better then the feelings you experience while travelling. When I travel I feel completely alive. I feel freedom in it’s purest form, joy, happiness and excitement. From I get in the car to head to the airport from the minute my bags hit the floor when I return home, I get overwhelmed with the best emotions. Nothing makes me more pumped then exploring this beautiful planet.

If you are like me and live for adventure, you also may know what it is like to miss travelling and feel completely bored and unsatisfied with your everyday life. In between trips, life just feels so meh, and you can’t wait to explore beaches and foreign cities again.

My goal here at Loving Life With Cass is to help all the free spirits and wandering souls, love life while they are out in the world exploring and while they are sitting in bed watching Netflix at home. No matter where in the world you are I want to help you feel the same feelings you get when you are travelling and be truly happy in the present moment. This is why I started to write adventure lifestyle posts that are designed to help you bring the spirit of adventure into your everyday life. One of the new series I am starting to write about is interior design tips inspired by destinations around the world, i.e this blog, Interior Design Inspired By Mexico.

The way we designed our homes and spaces has a huge effect on our moods and behaviours. If you need a little spirit of travel boost, why not consider decorating your home with pieces that remind you of your favourite country? Grab a taco and a margarita and keep reading to discover some great home decor items inspired by beautiful Mexico.

Interior Design Inspired From Mexico

This post contains affiliate links. But don’t worry, I only promote products and services that I love.

Terracotta Everything

The first thing on our list of home decor that is inspired by Mexico is terracotta. Terracotta is a clay-based ceramic that is used to make pots, statues, tiles and more. Terracotta tiles are pretty popular in traditional Mexican homes. If you don’t want to add terracotta tile to your home, look for some pots and vase that you can add to your house. This terracotta water pitch would make a creative addition in your kitchen or as a living room decoration.

Mexican Folk Art

Traditional Mexican Style Folk art is a great way to bring the essence of Mexico into your home. Mexico is known of this style of artwork and it can be found all over the country. These pieces can brighten up your home and certainly add some culture and Mexican charm.

Bright Colours + Patterns

If you have ever walked the streets of pretty much add town in Mexico, you would’ve noticed the bright colours on every building and lively patterns. If you want to add more of a Mexican feel to your home, thinking about finding pieces that are bright and have fun patterns, like this Hand-painted floral vase by Oui.

Hand Made Tiles

Speaking of patterns, nothing says Mexico like beautiful, colourful, hand-made tiles. Just like the terracotta tiles, pattern titles are quite common in traditional-style houses in Mexico. Depending on your preference, you can use these tiles as a backsplash, as artwork, on a countertop, on a coffee table etc.

Pillows

Did to change up the look and feel of your home? Get some decorative pillows! You can find different southwestern style pillows that will definitely bring the feeling of Mexico to your space.

Southwestern Throws

Match your pillows with a nice southwestern style throw. This can be draped over couches, chairs, the end of beds, or even hung on a wall. This is a very simple way to bring back some of your memories of Mexico.

Kitchen Sign

A fun kitchen sign, like the Mexican Food Tin Sign, is an easy way to add a little spice, to your kitchen design. A sign like this one can help bring that Mexican vibe into your kitchen.

Plant Holders

Some cute little ceramic hanging plant holders can help to bring the spirit of Mexico into your home. Fill them with little cacti and succulents and enjoy their company as you drink a margarita.

Mexican Cookbooks

Books make great decorations, so if you are wanting to bring a little of Mexico into your home, grab some authentic Mexican cookbooks. You can use the books to decor and maybe try out a recipe or two. This Mexican cookbook is filled with awesome recipes that can help transform your kitchen and your cooking skills.

Guides To Mexico

Just like the cookbooks, a guide book can also add to the energy of a room. My go-to guides are Lonely Planet’s, so grab yourself a copy of their Mexico guide and use it as a coffee table book.

Lively Shower Curtains

It’s like I always say when in doubt add a bright, funky shower curtain. Honestly, I have never said that before in my life, but a nice, not super tacky way to add some life to your bathroom is to add an eye-stopping piece like this shower curtain.

Cacti

It’s hard not to think of cacti when you think of Mexico. A great way to bring more of that Mexican vibe into your home is to add some cacti. Grab some little guys, and some big guys and places them all over your house. The best part of having cacti is that they are super easy to take care of. Grab this growing kit from Indigo, and start growing your new cactus.

I hope this post helps you bring a little bit of Mexico home with you. Have another home decor idea that helps bring the vibe of Mexico into your interior design?
