Tips For Finding Cheap Flights

A question that I get asked a lot is how to find great travel deals, especially deals on flights. Unfortunately there is not one magic formula to finding cheap flights, the only way to find amazing deals on flights, is to spend time searching for them. However, there are some tips that you can use while searching to help you find super good sales faster. Here are six tips that I use every time I am looking for a flights, that have saved me thousands of dollars.

1. Check more then one search engine. Each search engines sets their prices based on how much of a cut they take from the airlines, which is why it is important to search more then one site when trying to find the best deal. Try Skyscanner, Cheapoair, Momondo, Flighthub and Google Flights.

2. Don’t be afraid to check out budget airlines such as, WOW air, Jeststar, Spirit Airlines, Air Asia, Ryanair, Air New Zealand, Southwest, Air Canada Rouge, and Frontier. When booking with budget airlines PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT, specifically there policies on checked and carry on bags.

3. Sign up for flight deal members clubs, like Next Vacay or Dollar Flight Club. Both of these companies will send you emails notifying you when there are AMAZING deals from your home airport. They find super great deals and the membership is ridiculously affordable.

4. If you are taking a longer flight that will require you to make a stop or two consider booking your own layovers. For example if you are flying from Denver to Bangkok, there is a good chance you are going to have to stop in L.A. and Shanghai. You could check to see if it would be cheaper to book each stop separately. If you do this please give yourself a lot of time to catch your next flights, because the airlines will not reschedule your flights in the case of delays and cancellation due to them being booked separately.

5. Be flexible. This tip has personally saved me heaps of money on different trips. The prices of flights differ based on the day of the week you travel on. Flying on a holiday or mid-week is usually cheaper, due to less popularity. If you are flexible with your dates you can search the prices on different days and book the cheapest. Being flexible with airports you fly into can also save you money.  E.x. if you are visiting Colorado Springs check to see if it is cheaper to fly to Denver.

6. Book your tickets as early as possible. Flights tend to go up the closer you book to your departure date. If you know where you want to go and when you want to leave, start your flight search and book your tickets. This simple rule can help save you a good amount of money.
