The Best Places To Paddle Board

It was a perfect morning on the lake. The water was like glass – perfectly still, creating a perfect reflection of the tall green lush trees. The only sound you could hear where the loons making their soft, echoing call to one another. I stood on the dock just taking in the moment, breathing in and out, in and out, slowly starting to stretch my still tired muscles. “Ontario is gorgeous,” I thought to myself as I walked over to grab the paddle board and its paddle, and lower it into the water. I placed one foot on the board, found my balance and placed my other foot on, pushing myself away from the dock. My paddle glided through the still water and with each stride I found myself feeling more awake and alive. I was the only person on the water, no boats were out, no people swimming – just me and my board.

As I kept on paddling, enjoying my perfect morning on the water, being submerged in all of natures  goodness, I looked to my left and saw three loons swimming in a line a few meters away from me. I paddle a little closer to them, and they start calling out in perfect harmony. I slowed down and took my paddle out of the water, and just watched them float along. In the middle of the lake I stood on my board without a worry in the world, just floating and admiring the perfection of the Canadian wilderness all around me. Not only was I relaxed and at peace but I also felt completely like myself, a feeling that due to the wonderful busyness of life, I hadn’t felt in a while. I felt as if my body was detoxing all the stress and uncertain and was replaced with hope and confidence. As, I started to paddle back to the dock a feeling of pure gratitude rushed over me, and I was so thankful for this perfect paddle board morning.

I love being outside, and getting to experience and be one with nature. Over the last year paddle boarding has become one of my favourite outdoor activities. I love paddle boarding so much that it, along with hiking, are the two things I look to doing in any new city I travel to. Paddling makes me feel alive and free and it is an activity that I recommend for all outdoor and water lovers.
