Is there anything better than waking up, unzipping the front door to your tent and smelling the fresh crisp air of the forest! Nope, no there is not. Camping is one of my favourite activities and is something I enjoy doing in every country that I visit. Being one with nature, hiking around the area, cooking on an open fire and enjoying laughs with great people around a fire are all reasons why I love camping so much.

Camping has a rep for being a summer-only activity, and I am here to tell you that it is false. You can camp in every season. One of my favourite times of the year to go camping is fall. Cuddling up in a tent and looking at the leaves changing colours are so much fun and I think everyone should enjoy them. Fall is one of my favourite seasons, and I feel blessed to come from North America and have the chance to experience it. Walking in a forest of bright yellows, orange and reds is something so simple, yet so beautiful. 

Here are some easy tips for camping in autumn:

1. Layer up! Bring extra, warm clothing. Don’t forget socks and a beanie.
2. Eat good, cooked, WARM meals! You can make some paninis, stuff peppers, soup, 
3. Camp in an area that doesn’t have a fire ban so you can make a fire. Did you really go camping if you didn’t make a bonfire? 
4. Invest in a sleeping bag that is designed for colder weather. A good sleeping bag makes all the difference. You also might want to grab some extra blankets. 
5. Don’t forget to drink water. Even though it is colder you still need to drink water. Make sure you bring enough water for everyone. 
6. Embrace the outdoors and do fun outdoor activities. Hike, rock climb, canoe or any other outdoor activities that you love.
