Best Vacation Spots: 5 Warm Travel Destinations to Travel to During the Winter

Winter is here. Before I say anything else relevant to this post, I just want you to know that I am secretly a huge nerd. I can quote most of the Lord of the Rings movies, I went through a Pokemon go phase and I love Game of Thrones so much. The new and final season comes out in April and that’s my birthday month. Honesty, that is the best present I could ever ask for.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

As I mentioned above winter is now here. It’s the season of dark days and cold weather, but also of beautiful white fluffy snow, endless outdoor adventures, and of course snuggling up by a fire.

I know that the cold weather is not for everyone and a lot of people dream about taking a break from winter and enjoy the warmth of the sun. Even though I greatly enjoy the winter season, I do equally love summer, and I too occasionally dream of escaping to a warmer climate and enjoying the beautiful sunshine

To be honest I am dying to feeling the sun on my skin, and the sand in my toes as I take a break from swimming in the ocean.

Here are my 5 best vacation spots to travel to during the winter, that are both warm and adventurous.

Zipolite, Mexico.

Mexico is always a good idea. I haven’t been to Zipolite, Mexico…yet…but it has officially made my 2019 bucket list, after watching one of my friends show her experiences there through her Instagram stories.

Zipolite is a beautiful town on the west coast of Mexico that hasn’t been overtaken by the tourism industry. It is home to good vibes, stunning nature, talented artisans, rustic boutique hotels, and beautiful nude beaches. Zipolite is a hippie’s paradise, and from what I can tell, looks like a great destination for anyone who is looking for the freedom to relax.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

The second of my five best vacation spots to travel to this winter season is Buenos Aires Argentina!

Buenos Aires is a fun and vibrant city filled with passionate people, rich culture and a whole lot of fun. It is the birth place of tango, and is home to delicious empanadas, dulce de leche, and the worlds best ice cream. Buenos Aries is a sexy, Latin cosmopolitan city that is the perfect foreign city to escape to this winter.

I spent six weeks in Buenos Aries in 2013 and honestly it was a great six weeks. I made new friends, played a lot of volleyball, visited the markets, completed a 24 hour photo story at a skate park, ate pizza every Friday, enjoyed the nightlife, and drank huge bottles of beer that only cost $3 (a 19 year olds dream.)

Costa Rica: Raft, Surf & Kayak

Do you want to be somewhere warm? Do you love epic adventures? Why not spend 8 days exploring Costa Rica with Interpid Tours. This tour is packed with adventure after adventure, just read the description about this tour from their website.

“Quench your wanderlust while sating an appetite for adventure on this active trip through one of the world’s greenest countries. Paddle down the Pacuare River by raft for a night in a rainforest eco lodge. Snorkel in the company of turtles, barracuda and reef sharks in Cahuita National Park. Cycle along the Caribbean coastline to the mellow beach refuge of Puerto Viejo and paddle through the waterways of Tortuguero National Park in search of monkeys, toucans and jaguars. Costa Rica is a country where adventure-seekers thrive.”

I don’t know about you (but I’m feeling 22) this Costa Rica adventure sounds like a dream come true.

Sunshine Coast, Australia

Whenever I am getting to know someone, I like to ask them this questions, “If you could do anything in the world right now, money wasn’t an issue and you had all the technological advancements that you need, what would you do?” I love hearing people’s responses to this.

My answer to this question is, usually, I would teleport to the magnificent Sunshine Coast in Australia and spend time riding waves, and drinking fresh juice every morning.

Ever since I was ten years old I have wanted to travel to Australia and live out my surfer fantasies. When I was 18 I visited Australia, and had the opportunity to explore a lot of the beautiful country. I visited Sunny Coast and fell in love with it. The Sunshine Coast is literary heaven. It is a beautiful city, filled with surfers, friendly people, good vibes and is right on the beach. There are many beaches in the area, all which are perfect. It’s a great location to learn to surf, enjoy the beach life, and kick back.

Kauai, Hawaii

Kona located on the island of Hawaii, aka the Big Island, is absolutely beautiful. I lived here for six months and I fell head over heels in love with the beauty of the island. The Big Island has eight out of the thirteen climate zones. The ever-changing scenery makes the island unique and beautiful. One minute you are enjoying the waves at the black sand beach, and the next you are on top of a snow capped mountain. It has beautiful waterfalls and is also home to not one, but FIVE volcanoes two, of which are still active.

Kona is a beautiful destination to travel to all year around, but I highly recommend visiting during January or February because that is when the whales are migrating and you are guarantee to see them. While I was living there, I had a great balcony that had an ocean view, and every day while the whales were in migrating season you could look out and see them spouting. It was so cool.

There are endless adventures to have in Kona including, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, swimming with manta rays, visiting volcanoes, hiking, visiting waterfalls, and so much more.

Bonus Destination: Cape Town.

As, I was writing this post, I started reminiscing about all of my travels, and day dreaming about more beautiful, sunny destinations, so I added a bonus destination just for fun!

Cape Town is a beautiful city filled with a lot of exciting adventures like, surfing, hiking, whale watching, shark cage diving, safaris, and more. It is also home to stunning beaches, and wildlife including penguins. Cape Town has delicious food, in fact, it has some of the best food that I have ever eaten. It is also a fairly, inexpensive place which makes it an awesome location for any budget.
