Fall Cleanse: Your Ultimate Guide to Resetting Your Body and Mind

This week is the autumnal equinox aka the beginning of fall, in the northern hemisphere, the perfect time for a fall cleanse. I am so excited, fall is one of my favourite seasons. I really see fall as such a joyous time of year. The bright red and yellow leaves, orange pumpkins, cozy sweaters, and holidays i.e. Thanksgiving and Halloween, make me so happy.

In some ways, fall has always sort of seemed like the beginning of a new year to me.

The long afternoons tanning in the summer sun are replaced with putting on oversized sweaters and drinking chai lattes.

Summer slowly turns into a memory and we are gifted with another new beginning filled with everything pumpkin spice. What a magical time babes!

Are you looking for a way to rejuvenate your body and mind this fall?

A fall cleanse might be just what you need to revamp your self-care practice and feel ready to start fresh this season.

Cleansing is a powerful practice that helps rid your body of toxins, boost your immune system, and restore balance in your body, mind and soul.

In this ultimate guide, I’ll take you through the step-by-step process of creating your very own fall cleanse.

Let’s dive in babes!

Fall Cleanse: Your Ultimate Guide to Resetting Your Body and Mind

Step 1: Set Your Intention

Before starting your fall cleanse, it’s important to set your intention.

Determine what you want to achieve through this cleanse. Are you looking to increase your energy levels, boost your digestion, or simply reset your overall well-being? How do you want to feel at the end of the cleanse?

Also, set an intention for how long you want to commit to the cleanse.

Setting a clear intention will help you stay focused throughout the process. I recommend writing your intention down.

Step 2: Cleanse Your Diet

During the fall cleanse, it’s essential to focus on cleaning up your diet. Give your body a chance to reset after all the summer sangria.

Opt for whole, nutrient-rich foods that will nourish your body. Incorporate plenty of seasonal fruits and vegetables such as apples, pears, butternut squash, and kale.

Avoid processed foods, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol as much as possible.

Step 3: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Hydration is key during any cleanse. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to flush out toxins and keep your body hydrated.

You can also include herbal teas and infused water for added flavour and detoxifying benefits.

Step 4: Support Your Liver

Your liver plays a vital role in the detoxification process. Support its function by incorporating liver-nourishing foods into your cleanse.

Foods like beets, spinach, dandelion greens, and turmeric can help promote optimal liver health.

Step 5: Practice Mindful Movement

In addition to cleansing your diet, it’s important to incorporate mindful movement into your fall cleanse.

Engage in activities that promote relaxation and release stress, such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, gentle walks in nature or hikes, paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking etc.

The key here is to find restorative movements and prioritize nature. Grounding in nature is a wonderful way to support your body. Try to put your body near water and trees.

These practices will help you connect with your body and mind on a deeper level.

Step 6: Get Adequate Rest

Cleansing can be a transformative process for your body and mind. It’s important to prioritize rest and sleep during this time.

Aim for at least 8-9 hours of quality sleep each night to support your body’s natural healing and rejuvenation process.

Step 7: Detox Your Environment

While focusing on cleansing your body, don’t forget about your environment.

Create a clean and peaceful space by decluttering, using natural cleaning products, and incorporating aromatherapy.

Eliminating toxins from your surroundings will enhance the overall effectiveness of your fall cleanse.

Also, use this time to put up your fall decorations! I think this is an important task to do before the cleanse begins because it helps to create a positive vibe in your home and can help improve your mental health. Do a serious fall clean and make your home feel good. If fall decorations make you happy, put some up.

Step 8: Reflect and Reintegrate

As you give your body some time to rest, take some time to reflect on your journey.

Notice any changes you’ve experienced physically, mentally, and emotionally over the last 9 months.

Just as the leaves fall to the ground, this is the perfect time to focus on letting go of anything that is no longer serving you and that is not helping you to live a life you love.

It might be past events that you are holding on to, fears, past relationships, habits etc.

Take time everyday of your cleanse to journal. Journaling is a great way for us to understand what we are feeling, and process our thoughts, goals and emotions.

Every day answer these three questions in your journal:

  1. What am I grateful for today?
  2. How am I feeling today?
  3. What do I need to let go of from my past, so that I can move forward in a positive direction?

Once you find what you need and want to let go of, write it on a piece of paper and rip it up or burn it, as a sign of letting it go.

You can also consider how you can incorporate some of the healthy habits you developed during the cleanse into your daily life moving forward.

Remember, a fall cleanse is not a quick fix but rather a holistic approach to resetting your body and mind.

Take it at your own pace, listen to your body, and make adjustments as needed.

Embrace this opportunity to nourish yourself from the inside out.

I hope you find this guide helpful in creating your own fall cleanse. If you have any further questions or need additional guidance, feel free to ask.

Happy cleansing!
