Lessons In London
Welcome to the fourth day of Loving Life With Cass’ July series on London. As I mentioned in the early post of this series, London was a destination that I was dying to visit ever since I was a child and when I finally got the chance to visit, it was everything that I have ever dreamed that it could be. Exploring London felt magical, and as I walked around and observed it I felt like I was in a movie. I was there two weeks before Christmas and the whole city was decorated with Christmas lights, the displays on Oxford street were set up and I was cozy in warm sweaters, sipping hot chocolate. I also had the opportunity to photograph a charity event where a local church was spreading Christmas cheer by giving free coffee, hot chocolate, and baked goods to pedestrians outside a train station, which was incredible and totally made me feel like a Christmas elf. My week in London honestly could not have been any better.
While I was in London, I also had the opportunity to reunite with two of my favourite Brits who I had the chance of befriending while I was in Australia the year before. It was absolutely awesome – both of these girls are awesome beautiful people who have fun, warm, and hilarious personalities, and spending the day filled with joy and laughter was just what I needed!
OK WAIT! Let’s just take a moment here and fully digest what I said in that last paragraph. I met up with some awesome locals that I had befriended the year before in another country. Yeah Cass, you met up with your friends so what? I am from Canada and I have British friends who I met in Australia! HOW CRAZY COOL IS THAT?! Seriously, think about it, how awesome is it that due to my love for travelling and the technological advantages we have, I have met amazing people all over the world, and now I have friends literally in every continent of the globe!
Making new friends is one of my favourite reason to travel. Humans are naturally social beings and forming connections with others who may have been raised differently than you and believe different things than you is both refreshing and enlightening.
Being in London and getting to met up with my wonderful friends made me realize how lucky I was to be able to have met all of the friends I have met and all of the future friends I’m going to meet! It is literally one of the coolest things and I am so thankful to be able to meet more people. So many amazing things can come when you say yes to adventure, get out of your comfort zone and step out of your front door!
