How To Travel To Hawaii On A Budget
This is day two of Loving Life With Cass’ first week long series. Every month Loving Life With Cass will highlight one country, city or region for a week long and this month I have chosen to write about Hawaii. Read the first post in this series here.
I lived in Hawaii for six months in 2014, it completely changed me and will always have a special place in my heart. While I was living in Hawaii I was learning a lot about myself, discovering what I truly believed, what I wanted my life to look like and reflecting on my pass choices. The nature and pure beauty of Hawaii made it the perfect location for this much needed time of reflection. Being able to go on hikes, take trips to volcanoes and swimming beside sea turtles in the Pacific Ocean, provided the perfect activities for my period of discovering and pondering.
My experience in Hawaii was beyond amazing and I genuinely wish that everyone would be able to get the chance to explore and fall in love with it. Hawaii is home to many beautiful, luxurious hotels, and golf resorts, but it is totally possible to visit Hawaii on a budget.
Book in the off season
A great way to get lower prices on flights, accommodations, and rental cars is to book your trip to Hawaii during the off-season. Book your trip from mid-April to mid-May or mid-September to mid-November, and you are more likely to find better deals. Bonus Tip: sign up for flight deal member clubs, like Next Vacy or Dollar Flight Club. Both of these companies will send you emails notifying you when there are AMAZING deals from your home airport. They find super great deals and the membership is ridiculously affordable.
Skip the resorts and stay in a hostel.
The price of accommodations in Hawaii can get pretty pricey. Your best bet for finding low priced places to stay is to stay at a hostel or Airbnb. Check out these hostels:
- My Hawaii Hostel
- Kona Beach Hostel
- HI-Honolulu
- Aloha Surf Hostel
- Kauai Beach House
- Dreams Come True Lanai
Eat at food trucks and make your own meals.
A great way to save money while travelling is to buy your own food from stores and local markets. Hawaii has a lot of markets where you can enjoy a trip and grab some fresh fruit and veggies. Hawaii also has some great food trucks, where you can buy delicious food for a good price.
Visit one Island at a time
Island hopping is super fun, but can add extra costs to your trip. If you are on a budget, it is a great idea to pick one island, focus your time and enjoy it.
Plan what activities you want to do.
Anytime you want to stick to a budget you should write out a budget plan and plan out what activities you really want to do and when you will do them. If you need help planning a budget and your trip, grab a copy of my Travel Planner Printable.
Enjoy the free activities
There are a lot of activities that you can do in Hawaii for free, and if you are trying to save some money you should definitely look into the free activities first. You can explore beaches, swim in the ocean, visit waterfalls, hike some amazing trails and more all for free. If you bring your own snorkel kit you can explore some beautiful reefs for free as well.
Visiting Hawaii is a must and it is possible for anyone and everyone to enjoy it no matter what your budget is. If Hawaii is on your bucket list book a consulting call with me today and let’s get you there.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Hawaiian vacation no matter what your budget is!
